Background

The KreaNord initiative is the outcome of the Nordic prime minister's meeting in Punkaharju in 2007 where the countries agreed on an enhanced Nordic cooperation on globalization issues. The formation of KreaNord was initiated in 2008 per request of the Nordic cultural and business affairs ministers. The content and mandate of KreaNord's activities reflect the recommendations of the report Green paper for the Nordic creative economy (2008) conducted by the Nordic Innovation Centre (NICe).

Mission

The long-term goal of KreaNord is to become a hub for knowledge, experiences and development visions for commercial and cultural sectors.

The initiative connects the countries' national efforts, their leading development drivers and initiatives. It aims to promote and support a continued positive development of the Nordic creative economy. KreaNord seeks to position the Nordic region as the world's leading region for the cultural and creative industries.
